14th October, 2009. 8:17 pm. COLD!

And cold wasnt even the word for it!
Saturday, we think the high was 37, the low WAS 29. We layered, but it wasnt adequate. We even had hand and foot warmers! It was just too cold and wet and breezy. So that evening we went shopping and added to our underlayering wardrobe. Sunday was better: high was about 39, low was about 31. Not as wet, and we were much better. Monday got WAY up to 47 and only down to 39. YAY....and we even took off our capes for a few minutes in the afternoon!

Its hard to make 29 degree clothing for ren fest in the summer when its 100 degrees!

Its supposed to be better this weekend. 50's and no rain.
We have been having so much fun. Cast interacting with us, Scotty is such fun. And seeing our friends, Scottys very favorite best friends again this year. We miss Nancy and Sarah tho.

Well, I have a few things to do this evening and tomorrow before we head out again friday. Better get to it.

Current mood: creative.

26th September, 2009. 3:10 pm. H1N1 continues

Tried to get up and get dressed to go out to the faire site this morning, we headed to eat breakfast and I realized there was NO WAY! Dropped Jon off, and headed back to the hotel. I sure wish I could start getting better. And of course, if I'm not there, neither is Scotty. Jon does so well on his own tho! I LOVE HIM!

Current mood: sick.

24th September, 2009. 5:50 pm. H1N1 +

I DO have H1N1, they finally realized this today. Ended up back in ER for awhile, (several hours!) got chest x-ray, at least that is still fairly ok. Also finally got the Tamiflu, which is not available in any kind of quantity at this time in our area, but they finally figured I was a priority. So much for me getting the flu shots this year, (which I had recieved but reacted very bad to!)
Going to rest now.

Current mood: still!!!.

22nd September, 2009. 9:26 pm. Three weekends at a glance

Quicker post cause I'm sick!
Opening weekend at KC was great, much cooler than usual..nice! Lots of people were really excited we were there. Scotty is a huge success...again.
On stage with "Dubbagee Bards"....we MISS LADY NANCY!
Second weekend started with us at Buffalo, AWSOME! Special wonderfullness goes to my special girls, M and H! I LOVE YOU TOO!
We will talk, but I would like to know if you two can be my whole dance group next year, get a few others together and form a dance group!?!
Off to KC after packed up saturday night, then KC sunday...WHEW.....TIRED!
Third weekend: NICE! However, I felt a bit bad saturday but really SICK by sunday. Decided I was too sick to get Scotty out sunday, but when two of Scottys VERY BEST FANS came to see him at 2pm, we decided we could get Scotty for the 4pm show (He had goose flu too!). Scotty definately had a rough voice due to the goose flu, but he came out and sang with his best friend, Teresa and there were some pretty happy people there!
Home sunday night, to doc yesterday..I do have flu...and off work today. Supposed to work tomorrow, but its going to be rough...still very sick!
Its nice to see all our friends by the way!

Current mood: sick.

29th August, 2009. 8:31 pm. Last Night at Grannys

The performance at Grannys Attic WAS A BLAST!
We visited with Sam and Matt after, seems it was one of the busiest nights they had ever had! It was pretty packed!
Everyone that came..first off...hope you had as much fun as we did, and second.....THANKS!
I love my dancers too! Thanks girls! Thanks Deryl, you played awsome as usual!
We ended up playing until closing (I think it was 2am), then packing lasted AWHILE. Then off to B&J's to eat since we hadnt had anything since lunch, and FINALLY home about 5am!
I AM TOO OLD FOR THAT!

We didnt even wake up when Red left, heading for texas. We finally got up....sorta...at about 10:30, got around slowly and went to eat, but by then it was lunch time. (Did I mention I am too old for this kinda stuff!) Layed around most of the day, then just got back from Braums for ice cream. And I think I am ready for bed already!!!

Well, today was our last free weekend for awhile.
KCRF starts next saturday (3 day weekend) home monday night. Off tuesday to pack then off to Buffalo wednesday. In Buffalo Wednesday through saturday then saturday night off to KCRF. Sunday KCRF, then home that night. Then we continue through KCRF for 7 weekends. Weekend after KCRF we head to Iowa for the Pleasure Seekers Reunion...cant wait.
I'm tired just thinking about all of it!

Anyway...if you didnt make it last night...we will be back, we hear. I am guessing November (when were back in town)! Maybe we will see you then!

12th August, 2009. 10:50 pm. Kilts

I will try to shorten the story...
Since neither Jon nor I have hardly any extra time, I decided to order our matching Hannay Kilts from Locharron way back in February. I went through a company I have delt with in the past and are very nice and reliable. Well, by March I still had not heard anything from them, then one day I got an email stating the business had closed and had turned over all orders to another place called "The Scotland Yard". I corresponded with them SEVERAL times, they assured me they had my order and I even ended up resending the order to them as was origionally written to the other business.
March, April, May, June, and July passes with me calling about once a month to see where the kilts, tartan, glengary, flashes and tie are, to be told that the kilts are "being made". Now I can make a nice hand sewn kilt in about 3 months AND work full time, so what was their problem?
FINALLY, last friday evening the mailman came bringing a box! YAY!!!!!
We opened the box, and lo and behold was ONLY ONE (Jons) pretty poorly made machine stiched kilt, AND THE WRONG STYLE OF TARTAN!!!!!!!! The tie was included, the right tartan, of course of which DID NOT MATCH THE KILT! Yes, everything WAS made with Locharron wool, but NOT MADE BY A MEMBER OF THE PREMIER KILTMAKERS SOCIETY OF SCOTTLAND as I specified!
So.......
I called (of course by then they were closed since it was 5pm on friday) on Monday and talked to some guy who let me know he was as much of a manager as I was going to get at that time.
I discussed, and talked, and described, and let him know this was NOT what we had ordered. Seems they decided we were getting an ancient for the strome weight (Jons) and modern for the revier weight (mine), WHICH DONT MATCH! Now lets see, why would Jon and I be getting Hannay kilts IF WE DIDNT WANT TO MATCH!
Well, they WILL NOT TAKE THE KILT BACK, WONT REFUND OUR MONEY. So we have basically a $60.00 kilt for WAY TOO MUCH MONEY! (I know, 8 yards of strome weight Locharron costs more than that, but....)
ITS MACHINE MADE...and not very well I might add!!!
AND IT TOOK 6 MONTHS TO MAKE ONE KILT! Is their kiltmaker a little old lady in the back room???
I canceled the rest of the order and let him know HE WOULD REFUND THE DIFFERENCE of which he finaly agreed to. However these people sell their machine made kilts for $429.00!!!!!!! WHAT??????????
I AM NOT HAPPY!
Have a friend who will be turning them in to Locharron as they have initially tried to pass this off as made by Locharron!
So, for anyone who wants a good heirloom kilt...
DO NOT GO TO "THE SCOTLAND YARD" (www.scotyard.com)! Their web site looks impressive...but....
Let me know if you would like a GOOD kilt and I will get you to Cathy McW. who is one of the only Premier Kiltmakers Society of Scotland member here in the USA and is VERY EXCELLENT INDEED!
Buyers beware!

12th August, 2009. 10:30 pm. Jon and Red Performing at Granny's Attic

Jon and Red will be performing at Granny's Attic August 28th, starting about 8pm! Thats on a friday. EVERYONE COME!
Now this poster I designed didnt come out looking quite right on the program I ended up saving it on for emailing, it kinda scrunched it up, but the actual posters came out neat!
Anyway......

Got our new van...its BIG! 15 passenger van, absolutely spotless and only 41,000 miles. Will be taking out all but one of the bench seats for packing equipment, not to mention CAMPING in it will be perfect!
The van will be great, especially to get all the equipment up to Buffalo for the Highland Games. Since we are entertainment directors, we are also providing all sound equipment for all three stages, so that involves a bit of equipment!
Lady Nancy as well as Sally Tenpenny will also be performing in Buffalo, so everyone come!
Cant wait for KCRF. Evidently some of the stage acts are not going to be back, but we are happy to be there this year!
Well, thats enough for now. If anyone has questions about anything, ie Grannys Attic, Buffalo, etc, just let us know!

Current mood: accomplished.

10th June, 2009. 7:31 pm. Its raining, its pouring, the old man is snoring....

And Scotty got outstanding castletonian award last day!!! How cool!!!
We love all of you!
We are headed to Seattle Tacoma in a few days to perform at the Scottish Highland Games.... But....
We're driving, not flying. Going to head first to San Diego to see oldest son, then to Riverside to see other mom and dad, then to Portland to meet other oldest son, then to Seattle-Tacoma to play, taking Scotty of course (they cant wait to meet him evidently...word travels fast). After the games, we wander wherever we want on our way back home, like colorado, etc.
To finish up talking about OKRF......
Again...awsome! We had SOOOOO much fun! Last day I had to leave early again, had to work. But had Scotty do two shows before he and I left. Lewis came, in full kilt and looked FANTISTIC for his first kilt-wearing expedition.

Got Scotty onto Facebook. And all at once he was found by A BUNCH of friends! Little Teresa from KCRF last year, the first one to adopt one of Scottys babies found him, they have talked several times. Sooooo cool! If you arent already a friend of Scotty and want to be, hes on facebook as "Scotty Fox" of course!

Went shopping in Tulsa day before yesterday. Got more stuff we wanted and needed. Its nice to have to buy new clothes cause the other ones are just too big!

Ok, I gotta go do something, like clean a bit I guess! Later!

Current mood: relaxed.
